Meet Chenelle

It's lovely to meet you.

I'm Chenelle, a BABCP Accredited Psychological Therapist working with adults, young people and children in Banstead, Surrey and online across the UK.

A lot of the people I work with arrive at their first session feeling nervous. They tell me they're worried they'll say the wrong thing, that they won't know what to expect, or that they'll somehow get therapy "wrong". Some worry they'll be judged. Others worry they'll go completely blank.

If you're feeling any of those things, I completely understand.

It's so important to me that therapy feels like a space where you can arrive exactly as you are. You don't need to have everything worked out before we begin, and you don't need to find the right words straight away. We'll work it out together, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and EMDR. Although the therapies I use are grounded in evidence, every person who comes to therapy is different. We'll take the time to understand your experiences, work at a pace that feels right for you, and adapt our work together to what you need.

Over the years I've found myself particularly drawn to working with people who have experienced trauma, and with adults and young people with ADHD or other forms of neurodivergence. Although those experiences can look very different on the surface, they often have something in common. People often arrive having spent years wondering what's wrong with them, carrying anxiety, perfectionism, shame or self-criticism, when what they really need is the opportunity to understand themselves in a different way. I never stop feeling privileged to be part of that process.

My hope is that therapy doesn't just help you through whatever has brought you here today. I hope it gives you something that stays with you long after our work together has ended. That when life feels difficult, as it inevitably does for all of us, you understand yourself with a little more compassion, feel better equipped to face whatever comes next, and trust yourself to find your way through it.

Clinical Training and Professional Experience

I’m an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (registered with the BABCP), with additional specialist training in Compassion Focused Therapy and trauma-focused approaches.

My background includes working across NHS services, CAMHS, the charity sector, and private practice, supporting children, young people, and adults through a wide range of difficulties.

I integrate Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) alongside Compassion Focused Therapy and CBT within a trauma-informed, relational framework, shaping therapy carefully around each person’s pace and needs.

I remain committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice, ensuring therapy stays grounded in compassion, research, and deep respect for each person’s lived experience. I also contribute to the training of other therapists through specialist teaching in Compassion Focused Therapy. I also offer Compassion Focused Therapy supervision for therapists who would like a reflective space to deepen their clinical work.
